This is an antique 19th-century French oil lamp that has been converted into electric table lamps.They are  a classic example of high-end French decorative art from the mid-to-late 1800s.
Object & History
The tortoise shell style 50's lampshades are also included which are stunning but have wear around one of the shades as the metal surround is missing and some dimpling on joins of the shade. A stunning addition to a home 
  • Type: Specifically, these were often moderator lamps, a sophisticated mechanical oil lamp popular in France during the 19th century.
  • Era: It dates to the Napoleon III era (c. 1850–1870), a period known for its opulent and eclectic revival of earlier French styles.
  • Conversion: t has been wired for electricity  but the original oil burner assembly is still visible at the very top.. 
    • Motif: The main body features highly detailed relief scenes of putti (cherubs or baby angels). These were a very popular motif in French "Rococo Revival" art.
    • Provenance: These were often made by prestigious Parisian makers like Thomas Pearce & Sons or Hadro
